True Nature Country Fair

The kids and I visited the True Nature Country Fair this past weekend in the Flat Rock area. It was very simple and some might say quite primitive, and just what we needed for a stress free outing. There was stone soup, a few vendors, a few classes, felt purse making, seed ball making, snakes, turtles, skinks, draft horses, American guinea hogs, bees, chickens, tiny homes, gardens, face painting, banjo & fiddle playing, drum beating, and a whole lot of sense of community. I curse myself for not being more bold and getting potential like minded mom friends' phone numbers! Why is it so hard to make friends as you get older and why do I have to be so shy when first meeting people? I might have to just make that one of my new year's resolutions....be bolder. Anyway, we had a grand old time and the kids said that they had an absolute blast at this quite simple fair....just goes to show you that all you need are some instruments and animals for good entertainment.

Yes, yes a really lovely time and one of those places where I could sit and knit peacefully while the kids ran freely. Definitely the start of a new tradition I hope. Ok off to study for yet another test.

Quick post with a ridiculous amount of pictures (AKA AVL Quilt Show 2014)

It is late and I need to wake up in a couple of hours for clinicals, so here is a super quick post. My daughter and I visited the quilt show once again this year and got to admire many beautiful quilts. Here is a compilation of some of the ones that we enjoyed.

Oh yea and the last picture is a Apple Cake that I made. Now time for bed.

Weekending (a week late)

Hello friends, wow three months since my last post...I am so sorry if anyone was anticipating more posts. This summer was a doozy with a lot of working and we did get to do a good amount of hiking as well. The summer ended with a great trip to Colorado and Florida to visit both sisters. I have now been in Nursing school for a month and it is kicking my butt. We just had our first major tests within the past two weeks for both of my Nursing classes. It has been a really stressful month and I am working on how to lower my stress levels. I think mostly I just need to get into a rhythm, which I really have not felt like I have had yet. Anyway onto our weekend, last weekend actually. We went apple picking, which is actually very early in the season for us, but the plan is that we are going to go twice this year. I have already made apple crisp and we have been enjoying apples for snacks. We have made apple picking every fall a tradition since we moved here four years ago, yes we hit four years at the beginning of August. We love it and I hope wherever life takes us in the future we will have some place to go pick apples. Without further ado, here are the pictures from our apple picking adventures, finished off by some delicious pizza at the Flat Rock bakery.

Mmmmm, looking at the pictures of that pizza makes me want some now. Anyway that is it for now and I hope to post more now that I have pretty much quit facebook for at least this semester.
Peace, Yasmin
