Morning

Most mornings around here are a chaotic blur as we all rush to get ready for school or work, but some mornings are peaceful and relaxed. I had one of those mornings today. I have a hunch the fact that I had the day off and the school semester is over for me may have had something to do with it. We had a beautiful sunrise and I just sat in the living room watching the bare trees sway while drinking two cups of Yogi tea. It was fabulous. I even made fresh squeezed orange juice for the whole family, which is just what we needed during this "sick" season. I am not a morning person at all, but since I have to wake up around 6am most days for the kids, there is nothing like having some peace and quiet. I am hoping for lots more of these mornings and maybe one day I WILL be a morning person?

Fresh OJ and Oatmeal made with bananas & a drizzle of honey for my son.

Dawn through the window.

Dawn from outside...those are the trees I watch sway back and forth, by the way I love trees.

Knitting with my pup at my side.
Time for me to knit a few rows and then head back into sleep land.

These days

These days we are ridiculously busy finishing up school semesters, it is finals week by the way. These days there isn't much time for merry making and carefully thought of plans are falling to the side with not much hope of being completed, but that is ok. This is what being a college student with a full time job and a family is all about and in the end if my handmade plans don't come to fruition, who cares...after all the important thing is spending time with my family during these days in my free moments. These days, I am so thankful for easy meals and an awesome mom who purchases boxes for easy meals for the kids ,and on top of that mom bought a 6 pack of Sapporo beer for me...see, awesome. These days overfilling with almost too much stuff, are almost over and I am truly thankful for that. For now, I need to get back to writing a paper and studying for a difficult final, but maybe I can fit in a tiny study knitting break, just a tiny one to clear the mind. Yes, I think it is very much needed.

Love the bond that these two have.

Japanese style potatoes and brussels sprouts.

Brown rice, nori, braised Japanese style daikon, all covered in green tea and sprinkled with Gomasio.

Mushroom galette.

Broccoli cheese soup topped with baked goldfish, daikon kimchi and brown rice, hummus with lemon and cumin.

This is where she spends most of her days right now...I think she has the right idea.

Rian's hair is getting longer and I am loving it. He goes from wanting hair like Thor to the next day wanting me to buzz it all off. I am hoping he will let it grow a bit, especially during these cooler months.

Super easy nutritious meal for me.
I'll be back in a couple days.
Peace, Yasmin
