Slowly getting better

Sickness has been the common theme in our house recently, sometimes just one of us is sick and on rare occasion, there are two of us that are sick at the same time. This is precisely how our household has been the past couple of days. I started having an extremely sore throat on Saturday, but I just figured nasty nasal drippage yuckiness. I worked for only a short while on Saturday, because after a couple of hours I started feeling really really ill. I went home in the early afternoon and spent the rest of the day in bed with a fever. On Sunday, I managed to only be able to work for 2 hours and then I repeated Saturday by spending the rest of the day in bed with a fever. On Monday, I had the day off from work, and spent the whole day in bed with a fever and still an extremely sore throat. Then on Tuesday, I finally broke free of the fever, but had that nagging sore throat. We had to take our son to the doctor to check out an infection on a finger and we found out that he has strep throat. So an alarm went off in my head and I decided to get checked out. The doctor took one look at my throat and said "Ewwwww, yuck. I don't even need to do a test on you." So as much as we are not fans of medicine in this household, we were both promptly put on antibiotics. I can't help it if I am taking advantage of all the love and kisses my son gives me at this age...it won't last forever. I was told I needed to take today off as well, and since I was feeling much better, we decided to take advantage of the beautiful 80 degree weather we had in the mountains today. Just some mommy, daddy, and son time. It is rare that just one child gets to have mommy and daddy to themselves for hours.

We had a wonderful couple of hours at the Arboretum. We strolled through the gardens and our very curious boy asked many many questions about all of the different plants and we even had an impromptu concert where he created 5 different songs using his feet to make the music. This boy of ours is a nature lover like his momma and we had a thoroughly enjoyable day with him in the outdoors. It was a lovely day taken slowly by his momma. This being sick thing has taken all of the energy out of my body and I am looking forward to when my energy is back to full steam. Hope you all are enjoying healthy days with your loved ones.

Weekending

This past weekend we...

...enjoyed some lake time, watched a (crazy) guy swim in the 55degree water, caught the dog being goofy while blankets were waiting to be put back on the bed, and entertained (the idea of?) a third kid. Fun fun fun.

This Moment

This moment, a moment to savor and remember from this week, inspired by "SouleMama".

Couldn't resist putting 2 pictures in the post. The first is family dinner time, Ricotta Gnocchi baked with tomato sauce and Oriental cabbage soup, which I made very quickly and was a hit with the kiddos. The second one is my seeds for my future container gardening plans. Very exciting.

Weekending

My first strawberry of the season, farmer's market bounty, braised cabbage & asparagus mascarpone ravioli, a new beer discovered (strawberry lager), dog watching for hours, getting ready for date night, Rian & his quirky smile, Ashleigh & her I'm cool look. I ended up having to work on Mother's Day, but I had a chill night with my family and all in all it was a lovely weekend. I hope everyone had a lovely weekend.

This Moment

I am participating this week in "This Moment" inspired by SouleMama. A moment to savor and cherish from this past week. I couldn't just pick one picture this week, so here goes...

The first one is of my daughter getting her first piece of artwork ever to be displayed in a public place, the mall. The second one is of her after she got her haircut...so cute. Enjoy.

Tuesday Wanderings

A slightly cranky boy, who dressed himself this morning, just before heading off to daycare. A local consignment where I didn't find that perfect chair for my craft table. Fabric & Foam Outlet where I scored some "Peter Rabbit" buttons, a book about knitted slippers on clearance, and some polka dot fabric. A local bookstore/cafe, so quaint and lovely. Some spring flowers in the neighborhood. A treasure found, I love that I found a small birdbath for my small balcony. Other than all of my wandering about today, because sometimes a mama needs some alone time, I paid all of our bills through the handy dandy internet and even did a little bit of cleaning around the house. All in all a lovely productive day off.

Peacefullness

I had an extremely long, but productive day at work today. I started the day at 6am at work placing an order, and then I came home and cooked scrambled eggs and started some bread for the kid's lunches. Then it was time to go back to work and cooke like a maniac before doing inventory. We worked until 7:30p.m.. I came home to a lovely curry dinner that my hubby made. I sat and enjoyed the cool of the night and the swaying of the tree branches. I enjoyed some camomile tea with some local Orange Blossom Honey, yummm. I also decided to cast-on, I think for a headband or scarf. All in all another lovely day.

Peace,
Yasmin
